| Qualification for Membership
Membership in the Party is open without discrimination based on race,National or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age or Mental or physical disability. To be eligible for membership in the Party, a Person must:
(a) Be at least 14 years of age;
(b) Support the purposes of the Party;
(c) Ordinarily live in Canada;
(d) Not be a member of any other federal political party in Canada; and
(e) While a member of the Party, not have publicly declared an intention to be a candidate for election to the House of Commons other than as a candidate of the Party.
Application and Admission
A separate application for membership must be signed by each applicant, including each member of a
family. Each application must contain the following:
(i) Family name and given names
(ii) Residence address and mailing address if different, and postal code
(iii) Home phone number
(iv) Birth date if applicant is paying a youth, senior or family fee
(v) Fee paid
(vi) Signature of applicant and date of signature
(vii) Collector's name and signature.
A person may apply for membership in the Party by completing an application form and delivering it to the Membership Secretary of the riding Association or submitting an electronically Online designated form.
Family Membership
A “family” means a group of not more than six people who reside in the same household consisting of:
(a) In the case of an adult who is unmarried and who is not a common-law partner, that person and the person’s
children who have reached the age of 14 years and have not reached the age of 19 years, and who are not
married and are not common-law partners, and
(b) In the case of an adult who is married or is a common-law partner, that person and the person’s spouse or common-law partner and the children of either or both of them who have reached the age of 14 years and have not reached the age of 19 years, and who are not married and are not common-law partners.
Membership Fees
The National Executive, in consultation with the Council of Presidents, may set the fees for membership. Each member or a person in the member’s immediate family must personally pay the membership fee.
Scarborough-Rouge River Federal Liberal Riding Association’s for a one year membership fees are listed below.
Family - $ 20.00
Individual - $ 10.00
Seniors - $ 5.00
Youth (ages 14-25) - $ 5.00
Term of Membership and Renewal
Membership in the Party takes effect on the date prescribed by the National Executive that is no later than the next business day after the application for membership is delivered or submitted in the province or territory in which the applicant for membership lives and remains current for a period established by the National Executive.
At any time before the expiry of their membership, a member of the Party who continues to meet the requirements of as described under
“Qualification for membership” may renew that membership by completing an application for membership and delivering it with the current membership fee.
A membership renewal takes effect on the day immediately following the expiry of the current membership and continues in force for the same period as a new membership that begins on that day.
Expiry of Membership
A member’s membership in the Party expires:
(a) when the member’s current membership term expires;
(b) when the member no longer meets all the requirements of “Qualification for Membership”
(c) when the membership is terminated by the National Executive;
(d) when the member resigns; or
(e) when the member dies.
